Guillaume Tarel joins ORDECSYS in 2012

Guillaume Tarel joined the ORDECSYS team at the beginning of 2012. He holds engineering degrees from Ecole Centrale (Paris) and Ecole Polytechnique Férérale (Lausanne). He also has a PhD in Physics from EPFL. He wants to promote optimization in Energy and Environmental modeling, and more generally to OR applications in Industry and large Orgnaizations. ORDECSYS is very happy to welcome him.

JPh. Vial wins the 2011 Khachiyan Prize

Jean-Philippe Vial received the prize at the Informs Meeting in Charlotte (nov. 2011). He shares it with Pr. C. Roos.

The Khachiyan Prize of the INFORMS Optimization Society was established in 2010 and is awarded annually at the INFORMS Fall National Meeting to an individual or a team for life-time achievements in the area of optimization. The award recognizes a sustained career of scholarship from nominees who are still active at the year of the nomination. The prize serves as an esteemed recognition of innovativeness and impact in the area of optimization, including theory and applications.

Managing call centers

Jean-Philippe Vial gave a seminar at the University of Tilburg and makes a presentation at the Optimization Days in Montreal (May) on a recent contribution on the scheduling of the workforce of a call center with uncertain call arrival rates. The imperfect knowledge on the rates is handled by distributionally robust optimization. The research is a joint work with S. Liao (Ecole Centrale, Paris) and C. van Delft (HEC, Paris). The article "The beneﬁts of cooperation under uncertainty: the case of climate change" written by Thierry Bréchet, Julien Thénié, Thibaut Zeimes and Stéphane Zuber has been accepted for publication in Environmental Modelling and Assessment. This article is the result of a collaboration between J. Thenie (Ordecsys) and members of the Chair Lhoist Berghmans, CORE (Center for Operations Research and Econometrics), UCL (Université Catholique de Louvain-la-neuve).

European Programme ERMITAGE

ORDECSYS will manage workpackages "Global to local interfaces" and "Multi-agent action and reaction" in the EU-FP7 project ERMITAGE on energy modeling (starting in December 2010).

New Project GICC 2010

The project submitted to the GICC program by ORDECSYS, KANLO and the OREMIP from Toulouse has been accepted by the MEEDDAT. The project is untitled "ETEM-AR: Modéliser l'atténuation et l'adaptation dans un plan climat territorial".

ORDECSYS is a member of the TOCSIN project (6th european framework program) that evaluates climate change mitigation options in China and India and the conditions for strategic cooperation on research, development and demonstration (RD&D) and technology transfer with the European Union.
